The IEA (International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement) is an independent, nonprofit research organization. We conduct international and national large‐scale comparative studies of educational achievement and other aspects of education, with the aim of gaining in‐depth understanding of the effects of policies and practices within and across systems of education. At the IEA Hamburg over one hundred specialists are involved in managing the different tasks of a study ranging from sampling to data analysis. Our experts also provide a wide array of services related to international and national surveys and assessments.
We have an immediate opening for a full‐time (40 hrs/week)
Project Team Member (f/m/d) with focus on requirements engineering
to support our International Studies Unit
The IEA Hamburg’s International Studies Unit (ISU) leads or contributes to international large‐scale assessments and surveys in education as well as related activities and services to the IEA membership and a broad range of partners and clients. The unit’s main activities include study and project management, development work (e.g., frameworks and instruments), field operations, data collection systems, data management and processing, related training and capacity building, and reporting.
Your tasks:
Collect, analyze, and define the requirements for our software products
Document and maintain software requirement specifications
Perform user acceptance testing and quality assurance for our software products
Program, modify, and apply data processing programs for international educational large‐scale assessments in SQL
Create programs (e.g., VBA, SQL, SPSS) for data preparation and quality assurance of study results
Implement data processing
Support the technical administration of our existing database infrastructure
Collaborate with all related stakeholders (developers, testers, study coordinators, external partners) to define solutions for our inhouse‐software products
Your profile:
A university or technical college degree or a comparable qualification
Experience in requirements engineering (IREB certification or similar is a plus) Practical experience in dealing with relational SQL‐databases
Preferably knowledge of data management
Preferably experience in software testing
Excellent knowledge of English (both spoken and written)
Strong analytical skills and a genuine interest in the overarching processes to implement international
educational studies
A sense of responsibility and excellent communication skills
Pro‐activeness and the ability to dive right into the topic with a “hands‐on” mentality
Interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate with diverse cross‐functional teams
