„Climate – KIC is part of the EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) and we have a strong education team with partner universities across Europe. We offer many courses, summer schools and programmes, some of which are open to everyone. We focus on climate innovation and entrepreneurship and training in these areas is our priority.
We are currently recruiting for our flagship programme the international summer school called “The Journey”,
What is the Journey?
The Journey is a 3-week or 5-week climate innovation summer school. It brings together students and professionals from all over the world.
From validating an idea to understanding the market, structuring a business, and building a team, Climate-KIC gears participants up for the world of climate entrepreneurship. The Journey provides the tools to make an impact on the global effort to find solutions to climate change, and supports participants in the quest to become an sustainable entrepreneur.
The Journey summer school offers climate change knowledge combined with entrepreneurship skills, allowing participants to create – together with people from a wide range of backgrounds – a business model which will help our environment.
Applicants can choose between a 3-week and a 5-week programme. The summer school is free of charge for EU nationals and EU students.
Climate-KIC will host 11 Journeys around Europe in many new locations in July and August and one can apply here.
For very first time this year we are also launching a Journey in cooperation with Copernicus, which is part of the European Space Agency, called “InnoSpace”.
The core objective of InnoSpace Journey is to ensure uptake and exploitation of Copernicus data, to address the challenges of climate change, as well as create awareness of both the availability and the potential applications of open Earth Observation (EO) data. The InnoSpace Journey will aim at fostering entrepreneurial thinking among students and future entrepreneurs deploying a learn-by-doing approach by:
(i) increasing awareness of downstream EO and Geographic Information Science (GIS) innovation opportunities; (ii) providing the skills and tools to translate ideas into end-user applications; and (iii) providing a protected testing-ground for entrepreneurial development in the field of climate change; and finally (iv) to develop a common inter-and trans disciplinary understanding of climate challenges and how they can be addressed using space data, Earth Observation and GIS. Within the five weeks, the participants move across three different European locations with two coaches, and team-up to create compelling sustainable solutions to real-world climate related issues.
You can find further info in the attached flyer and on the Journey website: journey.climate-kic.org.
Deadline for applications is 18th of February.
